About
Always OpenLomtadze`s Marani Velistsikhe is a small Marani (Cellar), which is located in Gurjaani municipality, village Velistsikhe. The abovementioned Marani was built in the early 20th century, in the Cellar, there are 24 Pitchers (“Qvevri” - The big Pottery, which is placed in the ground) which are made in 1900-1905 years, and The Winepress (“Satsnakheli”), which is decorated with brick ornaments.
The uniqueness of the Marani is that the traditional Kakhetian method of wine making hasn’t not been stopped here for more than a century. The Family has vineyards of Gvinis Tetri, Rkatsiteli and Saferavi varieties, which are looked after with Bio preparations. Namely, the wine of “Lomtadze`s Marani Velistsikhe” is produced on the basis of the natural product.
In the Marani there are family owned items, which shed light upon the wealthy farmer's way of life in the end of the 19th century.
Lomtadze`s Marani Velistsikhe allows the tourists to personally take part in the preparation of traditional dishes, mainly in “Churchkhela making” and in baking of “Kakhetian shoti”. As well as, it’s also possible for the tourists in autumn to participate in Vintage (“Rtveli”) and Wine Making process.
