About

Always Open
Our roots are in Meskhetia. My ancestors got a respectable surname in Meskhetia, because they were distributors of canal water. Everyone remembers what water meant in Meskhetia, considering its scarcity; So, our last name — Меребашвили — came from the professional word that means water distributor — Меребашвили. My grandfather, Ivan the Great, settled in Caspian Sea with seven sons. Two centuries ago, together with other compatriots, he reflected the Ottoman expansion on the land of Meskhetino. Our fund remains on the territory of Turkey. My father's grandfather, Tshalba, along with his brothers, bought an estate near Amilakhvri, from which our self-sacrificing history of viticulture and winemaking in the Caspian Sea begins. The estate was transformed from an oak forest into a magnificent orchard and vineyard by my family — my great-grandfather Tskaloboi, my grandfather Vano, my father Mishiko and my brother Gochei. As far as I remember, my parents always treated our vineyard with special trepidation, tending each vine with devotion and love, taking care of every inch of land. The harvest was always a special holiday in our family - a holiday of joy, abundance, love for each other, joy, warmth and happiness. Over the past few years, we have returned to the traditions of our ancestors and switched to organic farming. We refused to use toxic chemicals, and now every tree and sapling on our site is grown exclusively by natural methods. It was then that the idea of creating a joint wine cellar arose, although at that time it was just a hobby. Our estate is located in the Caspian Sea, on the upper left bank of the Lekhuri River, near the Savior's Church. The unique landscape, located between the river valley and the slopes of the Lalevi forest, creates magnificent terroirs. When our guests come to us, they never hide their excitement, which makes us incredibly happy. Our amazing Chinese and Tavkverian varieties of grapes grow here, which allows us to produce natural wines with a special, unique taste. In this year, we also planted grafted seedlings of Meskhetian fir in honor of our ancestors. The landscape is also favorable, and soon we will have several terraces, and in three years we will be able to taste the wine made from this grape. My little cat Kato takes an especially active part in this honorable and responsible work together with us, without which neither the planting of the grapevine, nor the harvesting of grapes, nor its pressing, nor the tasting of wine, nor its bottling would have been possible. Previously he drank only our red wine - Tavkveri, but now he tried Chinese and he liked it very much. In our cellar we produce four types of wine. These are: 1. «Kaspis chinuri» — amber, dry natural wine. Made from 100% Chinese grapes, fermented on full sediment according to classical technology. It has a characteristic aroma and interesting taste of dried figs and white fruits. 2. "Kaspis tavkveri" — red dry natural wine. Made from 100% Tavkveri grapes. Cooked on a krepkoy chache according to classical technology. It has a velvety texture, a pronounced aroma of ripe blackberries and a long aftertaste. 3. «Zemochaluri vardisferi» — pink, dry, natural wine. It is made from grapes of Chinui, Tavkveri and Gorula varieties Cooked on a krepkoy chache according to classical technology. The taste is light, joyful, structured and pleasant. 4. "Chemi dzmis rvino" — white, dry, natural wine. Made from Chinese and Gorula varieties. Brewed without yeast according to classical technology. It has a characteristic aroma of dried white fruits, a lively, structured taste and a pleasant, light taste. Our self-sacrificing work was soon appreciated. As a result of a sufficiently strict inspection of our vineyards and cellars, in August 2022, we were accepted as members of the Natural Wine Association, which is a great honor for us. We also received the right to use the logo of the association on the labels of our wines from the 2022 vintage, which is a matter of special pride for us and says a lot about our wines. In 2024, our winery became a participant of a very important project of the National Tourism Administration of Georgia - "Wine Route", which is also a great responsibility and honor for us. We would like to share with you the results and emotions of our work. We are glad to welcome you to our beautiful estate and winery; And also in the basement with an oak ceiling and wooden panels, built more than a century and a half ago in our ancestral home; We would like to offer you a tasting of our most delicious natural wines.
